Did you know you have a gift directly from God? It is a gift that aligns with His perfect plan. The masterpiece puzzle we talked about a few days ago.
Pauls tells us in this part of Romans that we are like the human body. We each have a specific, unique gift and function that completes the perfect body of Christ’s church. Just as a body cannot fully function without an arm or a leg, it also can’t properly function without eye lashes or a toe. Just as every part of the body, big or small, contributes to the overall function of the human body, the same goes for us in Christ.
God gives each of us a gift that helps to contribute to furthering His kingdom and glorifying Him. Everyone is different and we are not all going to have the same gifts. So, don’t feel bad if you don’t have the gift of service when God has given you the gift of teaching. AND…don’t be jealous when someone has the gift of prophecy and you have the gift of encouragement. All gifts are valuable to the entire kingdom and are needed in order to complete the masterpiece.
Paul lines out just some of those gifts here in this section of the letter:
- Prophesy
- Service
- Teaching
- Encouragement (Exhorting)
- Generosity
- Leadership
- Acts of Mercy
There are many more gifts that God gives us through the Holy Spirit. Paul just outlines a few here. It is up to us to listen and discern what God has called us to do. What gifts to you use in your everyday life that also can be used for God? Are you fulling using the gift to help build up God’s people and to express God’s love to others?
I pray today that God shares with you what your gift is from the Holy Spirit and He guides you on how he wants you to use them for His glory.
